Bye Bye Bees!

Has anyone ever had a swarm of bees come visiting to your home? Well Monday afternoon I had about 30,000 unexpected house guests. Soon after arriving home from work, I fed the dogs and walked to our bathroom to change clothes. That's when I heard a very loud buzzing noise overhead. Was I in a scene from Amityville Horror? Bees were flying around my bathroom and accumulating around our large bathroom window. So I ran out and made a check of the rest of the house and the doggies. The dogs were fine and a few bees had made their way into the bedroom and study.

To make a long story shorter....exterminators can't kill bees. It is against the law to kill bees! So I called a beekeeper. The good news is that if bees are in the home, it is a sign that they have just arrived. The aproximate number of the little guys is 30,000. The bad news was they couldn't come till Tuesday to remove them. Another interesting fact is that if a swarm of bees arrives at your home, the bees probably escaped from a beekeeping facility!

I wish I had taken a picture of Brian and Jon...they were out in their black slacks and button up shirts with wasp spray. They were hitting the swarm site from the outside of the house. I have to admit Jon was quite a bit more brave that Bird.

The aftermath wasn't pretty. I collected about 45 bees from the bathroom and there were tons in the lights......but they are gone. Yea!!!

I am looking forward to the weekend. Brian returns from Las Vegas tonight late. We are having a party on the patio somewhere Sat. The weather is supposed to be beautiful. I am sure we will return to our house later in the night. I love nothing more than to be with friends and my Bird catching up and having fun!

So what did you do Monday night? Did you stay at the house? Could you even sleep in your room? That's crazy....never a dull moment in your house I guess. Between your bees and my spiders, we could write a good story for Days of Our Lives or something. I'm jealous of your pretty weather. After a WONDERFUL day yesterday (it was 79), we litterally have a few inches of snow today and we'll be lucky to get out of the 30's. Ughhh.... Well, I love you and I'll just call you the beekeeper for now!
